Model Air Vallejo. Set ITALIAN WWII REGIO ESERCITO CAMO COLORS. The Italian army did not have exact chromatic correspondence charts, we know some shades and their denomination from written files, like the names of some defined references, but with somewhat vague descriptions and isolated records about quite rigorous restorations, carried out in military museums. Disruptive camouflage schemes, applied to the dark green tone used as a base in many of Ansaldo's designs, can be found as early as the 1930s. From the 1940s onwards, light green began to be used as a base colour, over which reddish sand or terracotta patches were applied. The combinations evolved into very elaborate patterns with up to four different shades, creating amoeba-like or disruptive patterns with sinuous, shingles-like shapes.
We have taken as a reference some well-preserved colour photos and expert restorations of the vehicles on display at the Saumur Museum, to define the shades of the best-known tones.
