Blackwing Volume XIX - Second Edition

The Blackwing Pencil Volume XIX - 2024 is a tribute to the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which marked a milestone in voting rights by outlawing the denial of this right on the basis of sex. With Tennessee's ratification as the 36th state in August 1920, this amendment was a historic, if imperfect, advance in equal rights. Despite this achievement, barriers to voting continued for many people from minority communities, and the struggle for the right to vote persists to this day.

This second edition pencil features a design inspired by the colours of the suffrage movement's flag, with a purple body and gold and white accents symbolising perseverance and equality. It includes 36 gold stars in honour of the ratifying states, a silver ferrule and a purple eraser. Its extra-firm lead, now with its hardness grade stamped on the barrel, is perfect for writing tasks that require precision, such as drafting letters to representatives or planning a vote. In addition, part of the proceeds go to the League of Women Voters, supporting its mission to protect and expand voting rights in the United States.
